Well, I was born and bred here in this wonderful little hicktown that somehow managed to border with a rich town full of absolutely snobby, uptight, redneck-hating Yankees who come down here to enjoy the Florida heat. So I really have the country music down deep in my blood, and for the most part don't like country-pop songs. I like the more solidly country stuff, and bluegrass. I mean, I love Keith Urban and Toby Keith, but I love older, more purely country stuff even more. For example, Rascal Flatts are ok to me, and I like some of their songs, but overall, I'd prefer someone like ol' Waylon Jennings or Johnny Cash. And yes, I really could picture Vala liking the Dixie Chicks. Maybe even Faith Hill.

And I've always liked country. I was born into it, so "I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool" as George Jones said. :) Now, I have a group of 5 close friends to me, one of them actually being my sister. But me and my sis love country. One of my friends is from California and lived in a big south Florida city for years, so she absolutely hates country. Another of my friends doesn't really care for it, but will listen to Keith Urban with us. Then I have a friend who's family is fairly redneck, and her dad likes country, but she really doesn't care for it much. She hears it, but doesn't really like it. Then the other one of my friends says it's not "real music." *rolls eyes* I think she's crazy. :) But anyway, that whole deal means me and my sister seem kind of on the outside of things sometimes. But I think we might just slowly be grinding them down on their anti-country mindsets.
