Part 1

First of all, I would like to thank you for this long and in depth review sweetie. This really means so much to me. Everytime I work on a new vid, your opinion matters to me, everytime it's a Starwars one, it's even more important. When it comes to One Path or any project we have in common, it's something huge, that even sometimes puts even more pressure on me. I'm good at putting loads of pressure on my art... But this time, when I was working on this vid, that was not the one I meant to do at first and that came kind of nowhere, my goal to do something both meaningful for both canon and One Path just made me seek your opinion even more in a certain way.

I felt this vid in my guts and heart. I knew from start that I would cry my heart out doing it. And I did. I haven't mentally suffered like this since I wrote the end of my second novel. I love happy endings. But I'm at my (often) best in tragedy. But I so agree with you that tragedy just for death and all morbidness is not what I seek nor what I enjoy. Sometimes I know I do vids that end badly, but when I look back on the vids I did I know it's only a few parts, sometimes you "can't" escape pure tragedy. But even in those projects, all the feelings and all that's been between the characters that it was love, friendship has to be shown. No sacrifice should be made for nothing. This is how I worked on "the galaxy can wait" at a stage I was shipping canon, or when I did the friendship vid "hello darkness my old friend". And I'm only thinking about Starwars exemples here, but I could also quote "unwritten Story". Even in tragedy the past has to be cherished and mourned. And honestly when I started this vid I thought it might only be a "looking at the past" video... Because I didn't want to use OT clips, especially after having done the last Anakiné Obi-Wan video.

But when I reached the end, I knew I needed something more, because as you said Starwars is about "there is hope left". And nothing can express it better than those twin suns. There is hope. There is future. This is also why I don't like where the EU has gone lately. Tragedy, losses happen in Starwars, but not for nothing. People can get lost and do horrible things, but redemption shall always be possible. In his respect for so many cultures and religions he conveys in his movies, Lucas didn't mean (in my humble opinion) to show tragedy as an end. This is also why he ended finally with ROTS that is the darkest eps of all. As he mentionned, this is not the end, it's the center part, how things will make ANH happen, and where TPM and ATOC lead. It's the end of the PT, not of the whole saga. Lucas made from a very dark evil figure, Vader, a character whose humanity you perceive, thanks to the PT. How could one dare saying that Vader is just evil. I mean now, after all we've seen in the PT? This is another reason why friendship clips are just happier mirrors (if that means anything) to all the duel ones. The duel was not here to be action packed or drama packed, nor was the agony of Obi-Wan having to stop Anakin by a horrible way, nor the one of Mace's sacrifice.

This vid is tragic, but the tragedy is not only happening for one or two characters. This is also why I chose my title "May the Force redeem us" because for me all the characters are looking for redemption. They all carry a heavy burden they can't really forgive themselves. It's not just canon, it's not just One Path. It's Starwars. Those burdens can vary from one version to an other but they exist. They haunt the characters and the fans.

This is also why I wanted to show as many characters as it made sense. First of all, I didn't want things to love like a "love triangle" either for canon or One Path. But showing all the people undergoing this tragedy as much as sense allowed it was important for me. And using all those Jedi clips for the same sentence "Insanity is overwhelming" was what came first to my mind. Those shots have not been used to make more minutes in the movies. We have seen them before, in TPM and ATOC even if not much. They were there, they fought and died along.
