Lionchilde's writing schedule for 2008, organized by week

Schedule is being revamped do to personal issues that prevented me from writing this summer. Sorry for the delay. Check back soon.

As scary as the idea of having to decide what week to do what in might seem, it actually makes a lot more sense than the way I usually tend to do things, which is to write in one thing until I get stuck and then jump to something else, only to abandon it when whatever was giving me trouble in the first story decides to find a way to fix itself. I have an unfinished fanfic story from back in *shudders at the horror of admitting this* 2004 that I always meant to complete but just never got back around to getting to, because I'm too disorganized to make myself make the time to do it. This is without a doubt a smarter way to go about things, I'm sure. Now, if the muses will just cooperate enough to even halfway let to stick to the proposed schedule . . . *Looks askance at muses, who seem to be rolling on floor laughing hysterically*

I have no idea how you and Aruna manage to juggle so many things. Let me just reiterate that I in my disorganizedness bow down before y'all for managing to juggle such things . . .

I've never tried to do it this way before. I tend to work the way you do that way, but I HAVE to have a better plan this year or Bloodkin will simply never be finished. The series is now like 14 books long.

This I figure is not so much "deciding what to do which week" as it is saying "at least ONE step of project X should be completed by the saturday in question." Which gives me room to work on whatever I want during the week as LONG as I can have said step completed. Like, I can write One Path whenever I darn well please as long as I have a chapter to post on the weeks noted.

I'm a totally disorganized person anyway; it's just that my mind can run on multiple levels of disorganization at the same time.

I wish I could manage to juggle multiple writing projects at the same time without ending up spending most of my time on one and neglecing the rest, but usually the muses just don't cooperate. *Sigh* You'll have to tell me if having it set up so that you tell yourself you've GOT to have at least one chapter of X project done per week seems to work well - if I get ambitious, I might try it myself, next year, so I can stop feeling guilty about the fairly large project I've all but abandoned in another fandom because SW just eats up too much of my brain and time.

*Lol!* Multiple levels of disorganization - that sounds like something that should be on an icon, somewhere . . .

I will let you know. And yes. Definately icon material.

Thanks - I do appreciate that. (I need a reason to get more organized than I am. My lack of organization is frightful! But the idea of schedules just - it makes me want to be contrary. Knowing one actually worked for someone I know should maybe make me not want to be a blockhead about not sticking to a schedule because it's too constraining.)

*Grins* Definitely icon material!

So far it seems to work. It's flexible enough that I can basically do what I want anyway.

[identity profile] polgarawolf.livejournal.com 2008-01-20 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's good - especially the flexible part. You won't shoot me if I steal the idea of a schedule like this for use next year or in the summer or something, will you?

[identity profile] so-out-of-ideas.livejournal.com 2008-01-20 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
YES! It's my idea nad NOBODY can have it. Mwhahahahahaha! Uh. Sorry. Maniacal old self coming out. No, I won't.

*Holds hands up in surrender and then ruins it by bursting out laughing*

*Makes big eyes* I promise I'll tell everybody, if I ever become organized enough to use such a schedule, that it was you who inspired me, because of your writing schedule, okay?

[identity profile] polgarawolf.livejournal.com 2008-01-27 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
*Grins* I really will, if I ever get organized enough to try it . . . which might or might not ever happen, given my insane level of disorganization!

I'm rather surprised I could get it together myself, but I've kept it for 6 weeks so far...that's gotta be good.

Usually, if I can manage to do something for a month, that means I'll go ahead and do it for however long I need to. So I agree that's a good sign and I'm sure you'll manage to stick to it as much as you need to, to get everything done and keep the muses happy.
