It's not perfect, but it wasn't dumbed way down, and you could just tell they were trying. Plus, as you can see from the icons it was visually appealing, and as mentioned previously, I tend to get sucked in by that aspect.

The only other tv Dune-ish thing I recall was "Children of Dune," which was made by these guys, and yeah it was bad. I think that (again) for budget reasons they had to like mash DUNE MESSIAH and CHILDREN OF DUNE into the same film, and it just doesn't work, I'm sorry. I fell asleep about halfway through. It's still nice enough visually that if i had caps I would icon it, though. Just on principle. Because I'm a fangirl and it's like the only way I'd ever have icons of Leto or Ghani or grown up Alia. *hugs Alia* *kills stupid fat Baron* GOD, he and Palpy should both be incinerated slowly for about a million years, and kept alive the entire time so they can feel themselves burn.

The eyes are rather creepy and not-right, but I got over the glowy thing because, like you said, I figured that they wanted to make it more distinctive. Given the lighting in the desert, I'm not sure how well the cameras would have picked up the real coloring of melange eyes, and it's kind of important, since it seems to be used as a symbol for Paul's growth or something. There's a specific point in the movie where the last shot of him that you'd seen showed his eyes clearly being whatever color they had been before, then the next time you see him (after some transition or commercial break or somethign that signified a passage of time) he turns and his eyes are neon blue. You're supposed to be like "Whoa! Muad'dib!" I think.
