*Nods* The show focuses a little too much on the action in the various episodes to really do the kind of justice that should be done to the various bonds that end up tying the characters together - including the bonds that occasionally get severed or were severed but that have a lot to do with the reason why they are where they are. I suppose if there were more written tie-in novels to cover any time that passes between the various episodes and such, it wouldn't be so bad. Unfortunately, though, this is a problem with a lot of otherwise good (and even the not so good) tv shows. It's like the writers and directors don't seem to understand completely that it's as much for the characters as for the plot that people stick around and really become fans, and so they want to know more about their favorite characters and what's going on in their heads and hearts.

I think most of the time that passes, on Han and Leia's end of things, probably is in between the sceens, as they're skulking about the outskirts of the Hoth system, trying not to get caught, and then on the way to Bespin and Cloud City, with the rather less than optimally functional engines on the Falcon. It's just not as visually interesting to see all of that time passing while they're hiding or in transit, so they skim over most of it. Given Luke's extreme improvement (and what has always seemed to me as a slight but noticeable change in his overall physique), I'd guess he's there for at least a couple of weeks to a month, and if you're going to try to shadow Luke's truncated stay with Yoda you should be safe with a timeframe like that. Just remember to stress that the Falcon is damaged and that they did a lot more hiding and waiting (and then had to wait until they could time their escape just so, so that their persuers didn't notice them as they slipped off to limp their way to Bespin.
