*headdesk* I forgot to change the *** to ----- this morning when I uploaded last night's One Path to ff.n. GAH. Asteriks are the standard scene divider method anyway. I've read some fantasy authors who make up their own keystrokes for that, but every time I see them, I just roll my eyes. It's like, "Okay, how much time did you spend figuring out ~~&~~???" Having been around in the days before the site randomly stopped recognizing them, I would just like to add my voice to the multitude and say "That has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

*goes off to fix story*

And here would be a major reason I never would have uploaded it over there if someone else hadn't volunteered to do the posting on the previously written chapters.

Of course now that it's there, my brain will eventually insist on posting my 'gate fics there too. Probably the next time I'm having insomnia. *sigh*

I started using ~*~ because the astrisks kept putting up bullets. And then they'd be ignored by ff.net when I uploaded it there. It's annoying.

You should upload them:) My problem is uploading fics way before they really should be anywhere but on my ficjournal.

Well, I mean, there's a functional reason to use the asteriks in fanfic if it's potentially going to end up on that site. It just distracts me if I'm reading an actual book and see some pretentious fancy scene divider thing.

Anyway, I guess I really don't post anything anywhere on the internet unless it's ready to be seen. I don't use internet journals as a real place to work out my writing bugs. That gets done offline, either on paper or my comp. Most of my fanfiction, though, was written for LJ communities, so naturally it's here. The question of uploading it there is basically that I have shied away from the site for several years and only uploaded One Path because people had asked and someone volunteered to do the work of uploading the previously posted chapters. All of my fics tend to be long, multi chapter things and the idea of archiving them anywhere once there are like 50 chapters or something is rather daunting. Especially since I'd had no reason not to use asteriks since the stories were written for LJ, which means I'd have to go back and edit everything again.

functional reason NOT to use asteriks, I mean. Sorry.

I'm still divided wither I prefer the big huge space to tell you a scene is changing or the divider. I guess it's an up-to-the-author type of thing. *shrugs*

Well, with the exception of one story, most of what I write was done on the computer. For some reason it is easier for me to write when I'm on the computer. Flows easier I guess. The only fic I wrote a considerable amount off the computer was "Some Assembly Required", an Angel fic which I've only posted a snipit of online. I wrote it during my off periods of school. Everything else was on a computer and I've got this complusion that when I'm done writing, I must see what others think of it. I've tried resisting the urge, and almost did it with "Complications" but still ended up posting before I was done with it.

What I hate is when you copy/paste it to LJ and it gets messed up with coding from Word and then it gets messed up again when your trying to uploading it somewhere else. Nothing likes to communicate with each other.
