Attention Star Wars fans

I'm supposed to be writing, however...I am not, for various reasons. I have come to the conclusion that there isn't a community on LJ specifically dedicated to the women of Star Wars. Am I the only one who feels a need for such a community? Would anyone besides me, aruna7 and polgarawolf actually join it and post if there was?

Well, I'm only a fan of the original 3 movies, so that pretty much limits it to Leia, but I can imagine a lot of interesting possibilites with that.

Hmmm, I just realized I have no Star Wars icons...

Beru Lars was always one of my favorite characters from the OT...I hate the fact that she was killed. Leia, obviously. I've said before, she was one of my first role models. I always liked Mon Mothma, too, despite the fact that you see her in like a single scene in canon. I have a ton of SW posts if you want some icons. lol.

lol. Well I don't mean necessarily post all the time, but like...I don't want a comm with no activity so it'd be nice to know that there are others who could potentially add something to it. Y'know?

*Tilts head to the side* I think some people have tried to have lj communities for various groupings of women in SW - like, oh, the handmaidens, or the Skywalker women, etc. - but it seems to me that most of those communities fizzled out after awhile, either because there ended up being less done in the canon/EU with those characters (as with the handmaidens, after TPM) and so fans lost interest and wandered off to deal with other things/characters relating to canon/EU, or else because . . . well, actually, I'm not sure. Except I suspect that because it's mainly the guys who get cool lightsabers and ships and such that a lot of certain kinds of fans (idiotically) fixate on the men and forget about the women. *Rolls eyes about that* There is one community that I know of that was basically meant to celebrate all female SW characters - swfemproject - but I think the community's basically been abandoned (I was the last person to post something, and only because I was crossposting things to as many SW-themed communities as I could think of where there might be fans interested in reading a certain kind of AU SW fanfic). I of course definitely feel the need for such a community, but then, I feel a need for a lot of SW-themed communities and kinds of fanfic and fanart and such, and I'm constantly perplexed at the lack of material I generally find out there. *Sigh* My point being, I'd be interested, of course, but it might just be a handful of us who'd ever really use/visit the community regularly!
