We spent like 2 hours on the phone discussing it...
Did make some background textury things, and some funky screens though.

OK I am a dumbass, but in that first set, is there some tool I don't have that lets you replace the Xs with text? Or are the Xs part of the design? I'm confused.

I just made the X's part of the design. If you want to replace them, you could just paint over them or use a color layer and then apply your text over it. I'll fool around with them this weekend if you like and see what I come up with.

Hi! Aruna7 told me to come here to get some textures so here I am. I've downloaded the goodies but I'm not sure I'll be able to use them as I use a combination of JASC Paint Shop, Microsoft office picture manager and Paint to make my icons. I've just started making some. I can't buy anything more at the moment.

My textures and all my icons are made in Paint Shop Pro. Just open the texture in PSP, copy it as a new layer and change your blend mode on the texture layer. What you change the blend mode to depends on the type of texture.
