Yay, me. Isn't this banner GORGEOUS?

In other news, some of you may have read my recent post about my planned New Year's Eve icon marathon. Gotta do something while the rest of the country is out getting smashed, right?

Several people have offered suggestions/requests in different fandoms including episodes, actors, specific images, movies, and *cough* [livejournal.com profile] aruna7's vids. I don't know what I'll be doing, but I have been working on a bunch of new coloring techniques this week in preparation. For any of you who don't know, I use a nifty little feature called scripting which means thatafter I've done one icon a certain way, I can basically make however many more I want in one or two mouse clicks, then just go back and tweak any of the files that need adjusting. Hence the reason I'd even consider taking a challenge like this. (Yes, [livejournal.com profile] teddibear, my dear, I know the marathon was my idea. The number of icons, however, was someone else's...)

Anyway, there is one thing I haven't been able to do, either on my own or with the help of tutorials: red icon coloring. I was hoping to replicate the effect of the Pounded Like This icons without the benefit of the overlay effect Aruna used on the vid itself. I didn't think this would be so difficult, given that it was my textures that were used in the overlay, but somehow everything I've tried has come out WAY too red or, like, pink. I've tried color balance, both on the base and through an adjustment layer, same with curves, and I've tried gradient/texture overlays. Any ideas or tutorial recommendations would be greatly appreciated on this one.

Apologies to those folks waiting to read SG-Claus. It's going to be way too long for [livejournal.com profile] sg_challenges, and since we don't have a current challenge over on [livejournal.com profile] scifi_five I've held off. Fear not, the presents will be delivered. It's NOT going to be another debacle like Trust. (Darn you, Cake Scene! *shakes fist*)

KC RPers may be interested in knowing that the trailer made by [livejournal.com profile] aruna7 for her Shattered Fates vid series has won its first award. *GRIN*
