I'm having trouble writing today. Nervous about my interview tomorrow. I did get about 5 pages done before my brain decided to shut down mid-sentence. I don't have the attention span to post icons right now, either. So. Pet peeves.

1. "Alright". It's NOT a word! "All right" is two words. This has driven me crazy for years. You don't see people write "alwrong"...it's the same thing.

2. Fanfic writers who turn Vala into a charicature. She is not shallow. She is not amoral. She is interested in other things besides a quick tumble, and she CARES about people. If she was shallow and amoral, Daniel wouldn't think twice about her. At all. And just once I'd like to see a fic where she doesn't burn the meal. Just once. Not that I haven't written "Vala ruins the meal" too...but just once. Someone. Please.

3. "Alot". See #1; replace "alwrong" with "alittle".

4. Five BILLION selective color tutorials on LJ, most of which do exactly the same thing, and almost none of which provide anything other than a list of settings, no explanation of concept whatsover.

For someone with the username so_out_of_ideas, I sure have a lot of plot bunnies. I got attacked by new ones this morning. So, I've decided to make a list. It's mostly for my own reference, including the plot summary stuff, as I tend to be forgetful, but feel free to look if you're bored. This encompasses WIPs as well. One shot ideas are stealable if they're not marked WIP. Follow up stories to my own fics, obviously, aren't up for grabs. (Unless I know you well enough. Just ask first.) Anything crossed out has been finished.

So, last night my net died, came back up for a few minutes, then died again, came back, died. Then this morning it's fine again. It's like Daniel.

The weird thing was that it happened at like exactly the same time as it happened the night before. I'm sensing conspiracy...to the typoteers...consider this my possible-vuss in case it happens tonight. I probably won't mess around with it again if it does; I'll just go to bed and wait for it to be fine in the morning. Again.

Okay, I'm just reposting this from graculus post on danielpix for the benefit of any community maintaners on my flist who haven't seen this...

LJ has a feed for the latest images posted publicly here and now someone has set up a community with an automatic script to scrape off any image that is posted publicly that meets LJ icon requirements and post them to that community (iconscraper). Posts there hotlink the original source of the images.

However, you can opt out your journal, and prevent images you post publicly in your journal from being included in iconscraper and similar scripts that are scraping from the latest-img LJ feature. All you have to do is opt out of the latest-img thing. Make sure you're logged into LJ as your journal. Go to the Admin Console, input the following:

set latest_optout yes

and click on the 'execute' button.



If you are also a community maintainer, you can do the same to protect the members of your communities. To protect a community, go to the admin console link above and type the following:

set for communityname latest_optout yes

and click on the 'execute' button.

If you maintain more than one community, you will need to do this for each community, replacing communityname each time.

Oh...addendum... I don't really care who uses my icons. They're a dime a dozen; I can always make more anyway. So big whoop. I do know other people don't feel that way, but it's my opinion. I would, however, prefer not to have my bandwith wasted by people who have nothing better to do than see if they can. So...
