107 Icons from [livejournal.com profile] aruna7's vid on the twins, entitled "If I Could Be Where You Are". I tried to avoid repeating the caps in my OT set, but if I did, the coloring should be significantly different.

Link table to the complete set of OT icons is here.. I'll post the second vid set tomorrow. Have to hold off on the SG-1 set too. I'm beat.

I sat down at the comp today, looked at the date and went "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Aruna's coming home in two days! o.O Wait. I have to WRITE ONE PATH! We're supposed to finish ANH!!!"

So, what am I doing? I've written two marginally acceptable paragraphs, I keep stopping to read [livejournal.com profile] janetlin and [livejournal.com profile] ladybeth's comments to my Star Trek icon post, and now I'm writing a *gasp* post about my current annoynace.

It annoys me when people think that their favorite style of icons is better than someone else's. Or that a style they don't like should just be bashed. For example:

I don't USUALLY like the blue exclusion layer unless it's used as part of some other type of coloring. It tends to make either yellowed, jaundiced looking icons, or makes what are in my opinion washed out and faded icons. However, sometimes it works. I just used it on Sam in my last icon set and I think they're rather nice, even if they are more yellow/beige than usual for me. Furthermore, I tend to obsess in phases, go nuts about a particular coloring or brush and use it a lot. Like that icon up there. *points* At the time, I was crazy about that X brush, used it on a ton of icons, and the idea of making X-Men icons just couldn't be resisted. Then I moved on to something else. It doesn't make the icon bad just because I'm not doing it anymore. SO, if someone wants to make icons with that style, then fine. If you don't like the teaser icons, can you just not click the cut link?

I have also read comments today to the effect that either:

-Cropping and coloring alone do not make a good icon
-Icons with textures and brushes are bad because they're cluttered and busy.

Well. Neither of those things are necessarily true. Can you make a good icon with no more than effective cropping and coloring? Yes. Should you haphazardly slap textures on everything? Probably not. That doesn't mean textures always make an icon look bad.
