Dear readers,

For about six months now, I have been receiving PMs on ff.n (aka the pit) asking me when I planned to upload my SG-1 epics there. I have been, to say the least, flattered by the interest in my work. Although I have kind of gotten away from writing SG-1 in the past year (and we can thank a little thing called One Path for that) my SG-1 stories remain near and dear to my little writer's heart, since they are in fact, the first fanfiction that I ever published for others to read, and it was through them that I got to know several people whom I now consider to be good friends.

So, with One Path on hiatus, I decided to take some time yesterday afternoon to upload Fire and Water, my first SG-1 story, set in the AU that started everything for me as a fanfiction author, Rediscovered Hearts. It was with a bit of trepidation that I posted the story, even though it was well received here on LJ, because it was written in its entirety before we'd seen half of season 10, so it has very little to do with the way the series ends in canon.

Imagine my surprise when I checked the stats this afternoon to find that it the little, six chapter fic had received a total of 769 hits in under 24 hours. Imagine too, my further surprise to find that it had received a total of 2 reviews. Both from the same reader.

I suppose that, honestly, I should not be surprised. I am aware that far more people will read (or look, in the case of graphics) than will ever comment. I have written entire novels--and fanfictions--which will probably never be read, and I have no problem with that. I write because I need to write and for no other reason. But I never fail to be amazed by this phenomenon. SIX chapters. Nearly EIGHT HUNDRED hits. I truly am flattered, folks. However, I would be OVERJOYED to actually know what you THOUGHT of those six chapters. What you liked. What you didn't. Why you kept reading. Why, pray tell, is it so difficult to click the "leave review" button and drop the author a line or two?

Am I scary? Do I smell? *sniffs* I took a shower and everything!
